Boosting organic traffic by almost 500%

The challenge

The client is a PADI-certified scuba diving center in Dubai that has been offering snorkeling and diving trips, diving courses, and equipment since 2014. They were recognized by TripAdvisor as one of the top dive schools in the region but they still had trouble growing their bookings.

The client needed our expertise as they planned to redesign their website. They understood the value of search engine optimization and they wanted their new website to be optimized right from the start.

They also had an ambitious aspiration to dominate search engine results for industry-specific keywords and secure a spot in Google's local map pack. The challenge was that they were virtually invisible in local searches and faced formidable rivals.

The tactics

The first on our agenda was to team up with the client’s web developer and assist with the website design and page structure. The aim was to launch a new website that was not only compliant with Google standards but also user-friendly and responsive when viewed on mobile devices.

Next, the Serphead team set out to find the keywords used by potential customers when searching for dive shops online. The results became the basis for the new page titles, meta descriptions, and headings. Our team even went above and beyond by writing and optimizing the page copies.

After the pre and post-deployment checks, we worked to establish local SEO to capture local queries. The TripAdvisor profile was claimed and new listings were created in Google My Business, Bing Places, and other online directories. Our team made sure that business details were consistent across all platforms to help further solidify the diving center’s local ranking signals.

The results

By following the tactics mentioned earlier, the Serphead team helped the new website perform significantly better than the old version. Scuba diving lessons and diving trip reservations increased proportionally with the improved website traffic.

Since partnering with Serphead, the diving center was able to: 

● Increase organic traffic from 180 visitors per month to 1,062 per month
● Made the website appear in Google's top 10 from 18 keywords to 31 keywords
● Raised Domain Rating from 18 to 28

The goal of staking a claim in Google Maps was also achieved as the diving center was perched in the top 3 spots in local search results for keywords related to scuba diving.
